“Nah, I’m good”

“Really, it’s fine I need the exercise anyway and it’s not too far from here.” you reply, rejecting her offer.

“Hmm...” Kimberley looks you up and down with a serious look on her face. “Zack, you know I can arrest you if you’re lying to me?”

You panic a little hearing that. “Hahaha!” Kimberley starts laughing, “I’m just joking, you know. I had better get back on the road. Be careful, there are some weird people out there!“

“Thanks Kimberley, no problem.”

“Don’t you mean, thank you officer?” she replied with a smile on her face.

“God she’s pretty...” you think as her smile actually makes you feel a little less stressed.

“Ah, yeah. Thanks officer!” you reply with a laugh.

And just like that, she drives off leaving you to the walk the dark streets, the street lights and the light of the moon your only comfort from the darkness.
