Chapter 7 by MissAshleyJ MissAshleyJ

Does she?

“It was a dark and stormy night”

“Maybe we should go sit and talk. I’ll meet you in the solarium.” She said before walking out of the moonlight. A few second later, her head reappeared “that’s the greenhouse like room downstairs.”

The twins exited the room and went down a flight of stairs.

They saw the ghost standing in a large open room.

“I am only visible to the living in moonlight.” She said.

She looked the pair over.

“I must say, Al, you look lovely in my gown.”

Al only then realized he still had it on.

“What’s going on?” Aly asked.

Clair motioned to some seat.

“Let’s get comfortable, this might take a while.”

“I was my parents first born” Clair began “my brother, your great grandfather, was third. I had a twin sister. Morgan. She was a witch. And I mean that in both senses of the word, she was an asshole and she practiced magic.

“She was always jealous of me. She always wanted to be seen as better than me. When I was 25, I was engaged to Robert. We were going to get married, but he was called into combat during the war and I never saw him again. That uniform you have on, Aly, is all I have left of him.”

“Why did these clothes come to life?” Aly asked

“I’m getting to that part…” Clair said “long story short… my sister placed a curse on this house. I don’t know how. I don’t know when. I don’t know why… all I know is you two in that room, did something that woke it up.”

“We just touched a few things.” Al said.

“… maybe you just released thier emotional energy. There is a concept in Japanese folklore… ‘tsukumogami‘… objects that have reached 100 years old, gaining a life **** of thier own. It’s 2022. I bought that dress in 1916.”

“So all the clothes are alive?”

“Yes. I guess that saw you and imprinted on you and when the storm came, they had the power to act.”

“That doesn’t make any sense” Al said

“Welcome to the club” Clair said “I told you, I only know what I googled on your… who is that other woman?”

“Our mom?”

“I thought?”

“Well… mum is our biological parent, but mom has…”

“Oh… oh… right… I had completely forgotten your mother is gay.”

“That doesn’t bother you?”

“Why should it?” Clair asked “I’m bisexual. It would be hypocritical of me…”

“You are quite progressive for a ghost of someone who died nearly 70 years ago.” Al said

“I was always progressive.” She said “just because I was murdered doesn’t change that…”

“Wait… what… Mum said you died from smoking?”

What actually happened to Clair?
