Max Rodríquez

The protagonist, Max is a shy tomboy who grew up with four male best friends in a cul-de-sac in a suburban town just outside San Diego. While having traditionally masculine interests like sports (mostly baseball, cycle sports, and swimming), video games, and cars, Max's early blooming and rapid puberty caused her to become a tad on the shy side.

Isaiah "Ize" Davison
Age: 18
Height: 5'3"
Build: Scrawny
Ize is generally considered the leader of Max's friend group, if mostly because he's the only one of the five with a habitable basement for them to all hang out in and parents who are rarely ever home due to work. While small and wearing glasses, Ize is the confident, outgoing type who tells it like it is but never to tear others down. Despite his very urban, street-like manner of speaking, he's really just a true bro who is accepting and supportive of everyone. He also makes some mean snacks. Since he's often home alone, he's quite good at cooking and housework.

John Walking-Cloud
Age: 18
Height: 6'8"
Build: Buff
The "big guy" of the group, John looks like a meathead but he's just blessed with an overactive pituitary gland. His height and build skyrocketed around the same time Max's curves did, so he's generally the most empathetic with her, having gotten similar looks around the same age. Despite his high testosterone, he's quite soft-hearted, but he's willing to use his size and strength for the sake of his friends.

Connor & Sean O'Hanrahan
Age: 18
Height: 5'8"
Build: Slim
Connor & Sean, sometimes referred to as "The Twins," are the heart and morale of the group. The most energetic, positive-thinking, and mischievous members of the quintet, the Twins are always trying to think of ways to raise the mood. They detest boredom, and so are quick to become devils if given idle hands. While they tend to naturally sync up when together, they show their differences when separated.

Jorge Rodríquez
Age: 42
Height: 6'3"
Build: Thin
Max's single father, Jorge is a businessman who commutes to the city to work as a senior project manager at a telecommunications company. It's all fairly boring work and combined with the commute, it leaves him exhausted when he comes home. During crunch, he'll even stay at a hotel in the city or sleep at the office. When he's home, he has trouble relating to his kids, but gives them distance to be themselves. He was a workaholic even before his wife left him, but losing her only caused him to double-down on his career.

Jaime Rodríquez
Age: 24
Height: 6'2"
Build: Toned
Max's older brother, Jaime is a mechanic who works at an auto parts shop. While seemingly aloof and serious, he does genuinely care about his family. He's just been kind of distant and awkward around them ever since their mother ran off with another man.

Rosalina Rodríquez
Age: 21
Height: 5'0"
Build: Slender
Max's older sister and effectively everything she's not. Charismatic, feminine, outgoing, slender, confident, fashionable, and a social butterfly. She can be mischievous at times, though, and while she likes to tease Max, she still loves her as her baby sister.

Yumi Takahashi
Age: 25
Height: 5'8"
Build: Curvaceous
Jaime's fiance, Yumi is a powerful career woman with a chain of old-fashioned tap houses dotting the southern California region. Confident, beautiful, and wealthy, Max's friends and sister still can't believe Jaime bagged a woman of her caliber. Secretly, Jaime can hardly believe it himself. Despite Yumi being genuinely crazy about her gearhead fiance, the man's head is filled with self-doubt. She's eager for Max and Rosalina to accept her as their "big sis."

Eleanor Jones
Age: 21
Height: 5'4"
Build: Glamorous
Rosalina's partner in crime and BFF. Eleanor's father is the owner of the mall that opened in town. Unfortunately, as it drained resources from the commercial district, there's plenty in town who hate Eleanor for the effect her father's mall has had on their town's economy. She largely acts like a stuck-up, entitled rich bitch, but Rosalina claims "Ellie" is actually really nice under her facade. Her father is nouveau riche rather than old money, so Eleanor's affluence is still new to her. Her cheap taste in food reflects this.

Matilda O'Hanrahan

Conner & Sean's single mother. A stay-at-home mom who writes bestselling erotic novels under a pen name that she won't reveal to anyone in her personal life, Matilda has a very dirty mind and isn't afraid to flaunt her curves or sexuality. Much like her sons, Matilda is a mischievous sort, though rather than boredom, her impish nature is due to always looking to stir up events that could give her inspiration for her novels.

Dr. Terry Davison
Age: 44
Height: 6'5"
Build: Fit
Ize's father. Despite his flashy way of dressing and enthusiastic bravado, Terry is the school nurse at Max and Ize's high school. Rather than a facade put on to look cool for teenagers, Terry is just genuinely this kind of gaudy, quirky person. It made being the son of the school nurse less embarrassing for Ize. With school out for the summer, he's taken a side job at the local hospital, though he's still home more now.

Dr. Nia Davison
Age: 40
Height: 5'2"
Build: Trim
Ize's mother. A teen psychologist, she's the guidance counselor at Max and Ize's high school. Rather than a serious or warm, soothing nurturer, Nia's style of psychology and therapy is more of an irreverent jabbing meant to disarm her patients so they aren't as somber during her sessions, thus allowing them to view their hang-ups and issues through a different lens. A very casual woman and deadpan snarker, Nia is home a lot more often now that summer has hit, taking patients out of her office at home.
