**** combat

Elves are a reclusive race, often only leaving their country to go on trade missions or to research foreign plants or resources, and they're also known to have anti **** stances on war and combat. However they still believe in self defense so have versed themselves with the bow and arrow. They have built strong walls thanks in no small part to their closeness and admiration for the Dwarves that they often visit to discuss science and technology with. From these high walls they gain a perfect vantage point to let loose their arrows on would be attackers. However ever since The Great War, Adien has known peace and such walls only act as a deterrent. The Elves have been pillaged and raided countless times, but always pick themselves back up due to their unwavering unity and love for all life.

Diplomatic missions

Elves aren't known for their diplomacy, their curt responses and disinterest in natural affairs often leads them down the path of living for oneself, but despite that Elves are also compassionate and empathetic people, and have been known to stick themselves out for the sake of other from time to time. One such case for why such incidents are so rare was perhaps the pivotal moment that the Elves sent a missionary to the Orcs in an attempt to promote peace between the Humans and the Orcs.

Weeks went by after sending this altruistic group out and no word came back, until three weeks after, the bodies of the missionaries were returned back to the Elves, all of them bloodied, beaten and ****. Every since that day the Elves haven't bothered to send any more people to the Grey land and consider their kind to be a lost cause.

The Elventh Hour

The Elventh Hour was an event name coined by the Elfs after eleven simultaneous raids occurred on eleven Elven villages on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, all roughly happening an hour before midnight, which the Elfs refer to as the witching hour. These Orc raids occurred because the Orcs were amused by the Elfs reclusiveness and hesitancy to fight, and the number eleven is a sacred number to Elves in their belief system. The provocation bore no fruits and soon the Orcs attention were brought back to the Humans, their eternal foes.

Mysticism

The Elves are widely non religious, not quite atheist but definitely agnostic and have been known to adopt all kind of religious systems into their society. What they believe in is the natural world and the power that it holds over the mundane and the spiritual. The mundane is what they understand of the natural order and spirituality is an understanding that goes beyond logical reasoning. This belief system is widely considered to be too idealistic and naive by the other races, some even likening the Elves to herbivores do to their passive stances on just about everything.

However there are a few stances the Elves place all their conviction into, ****, theft and disrespecting the witching hour. The witching hour is the hour before midnight in the Elfs belief system, it is to be respected above all else while you're within the countries borders. People who scream, shout, make a commotion of any kind on this hour are immediately detained and sent to prison to serve out a mandatory 3 week sentence on their first offense, ramping up in duration depending on the amount of violations.

The witching hour is sacred to the Elves due to their belief that magic was once possible, and that the ancient Darkin used magic to give birth to all of the new races. This theory does not hold much weight but the folk stories the Elves passed down all confirm the Elves and Darkin once being able to cast all kinds of spells, but only on the eleventh hour when the spirits are at their most potent. Many races openly mocked them for this belief but Elves being Elves they tenaciously brushed such criticism off their shoulders.
