Penelope fulfills the deal

//Penelope Is pleased. She tells you about brunch. There is talk of a reorganization in the company, each department is to submit evaluations of all employees, including dismissal papers on file by next Monday. Penelope tells you where you stand so far.

“Victoria told me that you responsibly drove her home and then helped with her gala preparations late into the night. Thank you for that.”

“My pleasure.”

“She also tells me that there are plans being made for a company-wide reorganization.”

“What? How big of a change are we talking?”

“Large enough that each department head is supposed to evaluate all their employees this week. Regardless of the evaluations, dismissal forms are to be prepared for everyone.”

“What the fuck?” I am stunned. As far as I know, our company is doing well. I can’t process it. “Do you know why?”

“As for the reorganization, Victoria was tight-lipped. The dismissal forms are in case firings are to be decided above the level of the department heads. Anyone in the upper management chain will have the flexibility to make a strategic culling. That is all I can tell you.”

“That...is a lot by itself. Did she say anything about my evaluation?”

“I suggested to her that with so much going on, including the gala that she is so concerned about, that you might be too useful to lose just yet. In fact, I suggested that you reprise your role as her chauffeur for the night, so don’t be surprised if she asks for your assistance with it.”

I am getting too entangled in Victoria's personal life already, but I’m not getting fired...this week. "Okay, that shouldn't be a problem."
