Chapter 3

Which subject of contributing to the story are you interested in?

'Story Contribution Guide: Styles.' (Not IC)

Styles: 'Styles' are one of the central themes of the story. Words have power, particularity those associated with leadership. The tale will be very different if the protagonist styles himself as 'Fuhrer' than as 'King' or still again as 'President Justin Decker'. Bellow are outlined the guides to how each style will define the story based on it and what it leads to in terms of ideas and events.

Note that not all styles are fully defined yet, those wishing to help work on that should visit the CHYOA forums and give feedback there.

Style Types:
Individual Styles:

Imperial:

Imperial styles tend to be fairly debauched and depraved SLs where **** and '**** traps' are common and which in almost all cases lead to one of the 'negative' endings. They model themselves on the modern view of ancient Rome and are good story's to do early on in the variations of the overall tale because they branch and rejoin easily and

Imperator: Meaning 'leader' in Latin this style leads to a fairly debauched story where '**** traps' are common and you are constantly challenged to hold to your ideals and preserve the colony's freedom and prosperity when it would serve you personally better in the short term to do otherwise. Even if you navigate this string successfully you still end up founding the regime that becomes the source of the dark government in Chapter 5, unless somewhere along the line you veer into a branch where you renounce your imperial authority and 'restore the republic': AKA one of the 'George Washington' branches.

Emperor: (See Mixed Styles.)

Caesar: This Style takes you into a tale which is full of ****, **** traps, and ****-**** traps. If you manage to dodge the pitfalls it ultimately leads to a military victory negative ending where you become the founder of the dark regime in book 5.

Consul: (See Mixed Styles.)

Princeps: (See Mixed Styles.)

Governor: (See Polymorphic Styles.)

Tyrant: This one is interesting: in that it is an imperial style for which the stated objective is to cease being an imperial ruler and restore power to the people. When you go down this style's path you come at the end of the tale to a simple Y/N choice: with all the story’s major crisis past: do you renounce your authority as Tyrant: or not? Choosing to step down and restore the republic earns you a good ending: refusing leads to one of the negative endings.

Wizard: Taken from the hierarchy of the KKK, this style starts you down a path of racism and wickedness which ultimately leads you to a very dark and dangerous place. Currently debating if it should lead to the destruction of the colony or your ****.

Multiple Category (Specified.)/'Mixed Styles':

Pharaoh: One of the styles offered if you successfully navigate the thread string which leads to you flooding The General's quarters. This style leads you to an incestuous and sex filled tale which has a lot of pitfalls and moral dilemmas. However it is one of the ones that can lead to a 'good ending'. This is both a 'Religious (Other)' style and a 'Noble/Royal' style, and features many of the story elements common to the two of them, such as religious controversy, the difficulties of convincing a formerly democratic population to accept a noble caste and royal family, and the 'palace intrigues' which swirl around the new regime, and try to topple it.

Emperor: Both one of the 'Imperial' styles and one of the 'noble/royal' styles this choice puts you into a story where you are challenged by the price of commanding and the difficulties of living up to people's expectations. If successfully navigated it ultimately leads you to one of the more positive 'neutral' endings, where you become the founder of a royal line which is driven underground by the evil regime in chapter 5, and can reemerge as allies to the protagonist there, however it can also lead you to one of the 'negative endings' where you become the founder of the dark regime.

Consul: This style is a mixed Imperial/Democratic style, and is one of the better imperial styles that you can chose if you get stuck on an imperial choices path. This SL has a lot of elements of the politicking and back room deals common to Democratic paths but also the debauchery and **** traps common to the Imperial styles, and makes a good first path to work on. It also is one of the paths that can lead to a 'good ending'.

Archon: (Presently Undefined)

Sultan: (Presently Undefined)

Chief: (Presently Undefined)

Sheriff: The Style of Sheriff is a mixed 'democratic/law enforcement' style: it is about keeping your word, catching bad guys, and trying to keep your dick in your pants, at least most of the time. (Yes, I know, most unpopular story path EVER.) On the plus side it has a very low quotient of **** Traps and other QC, and provides a very different story type to most of the other Democratic Styles. It also leads with relatively little difficulty to one of the Good Endings.

Princeps: The Imperial/Military 'Princeps' title designates you as the commander of a legion: you have proclaimed the colony to be a military fortification with you as its commander. This tale is one of military might and tactical considerations, while you maintain order at home through naked ****. This path is not as sexually focused as the others, thought there are several **** traps in it, and a few ****-**** traps as well: in the end this path drives straight and true to to one of the 'negative endings' where you become the founder of the evil regime in book 5.

Knight Palatine: This style is a mixed 'noble/royal' style and 'law enforcement' style. This storyline leads you into a tale of dog, cat, and mouse with 'anti-royalists' and 'freedom fighters' as well as the usual Sherlock Holmes style detective work to catch murders, thieves, and charlatans. The good news is that this tale leads fairly easily to a strong 'neutral' ending, the bad news is it does not lead to a 'good' one.

Polymorphic Styles:

Governor: The first polymorphic style 'Governor' goes very different places depending on what system is behind it. 'Governor' flowing from the Imperial system is a fairly debauched and depraved affair, where **** traps and **** scenes are common, while one flowing from the rank of 'Governor' in a democracy is much more about keeping your baser instincts in check and playing Realpolitik with your constituents. The first leads inevitably to a 'negative ending' while the second, if you manage your time and attention well, leads to one of the 'good' endings.

High Priest: This style, like the others in this category, is actually a set of different styles with a common identifier: in this case the title is 'High Priest' but each choice which starts one of these strings has an additional differentiation: namely 'High Priest of (Blank)' The results of each choice depend on whom or what you are priest of, for example: being priest of Cthulhu leads to a much darker path than High Priest of Gaia, while 'High Priest of Pele' puts you onto a path where an incestuous relationship with your Twin Sister is not only accepted, but in point of fact encouraged. This style is the one that the other authors are most free to interpret as they wish: however it never leads to a 'good' ending: the best you can hope for with it is 'neutral'.
