Chapter 6 by Narune Narune

What is my buisness here?

"Where's the inn? I'm going to stay for a few days."

The militiaman gave me a nod and gestured for me to enter the village. One of the others had been flipping through the pages of some book, a catalogue of bounties probably; yokel's like them certainly wouldn't be able to read. I looked around the buildings, finding the building with a red roof; the yokel militia had told me the inn was red-roofed.

As I walked through the village a small pang of hunger shot through my stomach. It had been some twelve hours sine I 'fed', and I figured I could go without for a while longer; besides, I wanted to see if food would satisfy my demonic body. I drew a few curious eyes as I wandered through the village, I guessed the long coat was more distinctive than I thought.

I caught sight of a few pretty young things, and felt a stiffening in my trousers; it seemed as though my self-control had weakened with the strengthening of my body and libido. I subtly readjusted my trousers, catching sight of my hands as I did; the nails were starting to darken and the pink of my fingers had given way to porcelain. I wasn't that hungry, but it seemed like my body was responding to my needs.

My heart started to pound anxiously, and I hid my hands in my pockets.

I entered the inn, a large wooden building with two stories; it looked like there was a common area and bar on the bottom floor, and the rooms were up the stairs. I hesitated though, as I looked around the empty room; I didn't have any money. I bit my lip, feeling a flash of frustration; The frustration caused anger to flare, this was the fault of those who'd chased me from home.

"Hello?" the innkeeper said, peering at me from behind the bar. I looked across the room at her, a statuesque woman in her mid-thirties. She had a tangled mass of black hair, tied lazily into a high-tail, and her skin was nearly as dark; that was an oddity, though I've read about dark-skinned people to the east. She was slender, with an athletic build and a small bust. She had a very pretty face, with shining blue eyes and sculpted lips.

I took a step forward, feeling my demon blood start to boil. Lust and anger warred with reason. I knew, rationally, that it would be wiser to perhaps try and get a part-time work to pay for the room. Though there was no guarantee that she would accept the help or if she needed it.

What do I do?
