"Melissa" gets him to become Lone Wolf and capture her

"DAMN IT! If the VR failed, then I guess it's back to the drawing board. I'll leave you here suspended in the VR suit until I figure out what to do with you." Ms Kyoto stormed out, leaving Brad to the swirling starscape void.

Brad had no sense of how much time had passed when he suddenly perceived a change in the environment. He felt the cold stone floor beneath him and heard the distant dripping of pipes. Melissa appeared beside him and tapped his arm. "Hey, Brad. I'm glad I found you."

"Melissa? What? This can't be real. You're a simulation, part of Ms Kyoto's virtual reality program. And I'm...I'm not really here in this cell. I must still be suspended in the anti-gravity chamber. But..."

He ran his fingers over the floor, sniffed the cold, damp air. If this was VR, it was much more advanced than anything he'd ever seen before. He could've sworn this was real. Except he didn't understand what had happened in the time since Ms Kyoto declared the VR experiment a failure.

"You're dreaming," Melissa said, smiling wistfully. "I'm communicating with your subconscious. I was worried about you. I shouldn't have left you alone with her. I should've fought by your side. I...I let you down." She lowered her gaze to the floor. "She got to you and it's all my fault."

Brad reached out and lifted her chin. "Hey, no," he said reassuringly. "I'm the Lone Wolf. I fight my own battles. I told you to leave. I promised you I could handle her. If anybody failed, it's me."

"That's sweet," she said, wiping away a tear. "Look, Brad, I think we can help each other. I've found M2. She's living in my apartment -- freaking bitch is going all in on stealing my identity. I realized I don't want to go after her myself. She knows all my moves, she has all my moves. But she doesn't know the Lone Wolf." Her face flashed with realization of the implication of what she'd just said. "Sorry," she went on. "It's not that I...don't know who you are. I just mean I've never seen you in combat, so she hasn't either. Meet me at my apartment. Come as Lone Wolf. You and I can take M2 down together. Then we'll go back to fight Ms Kyoto together."

"No way," Brad replied. "No way am I bringing you back to Ms Kyoto, not after I've experienced firsthand what she can do. Not after what she put you through. I'll take her on alone."

"UGH why do you have to be so infuriating?" she demanded. "I was afraid you'd react this way. I didn't want to do this, but..."

She pulled a wolf's tooth on a chain from her pocket and fastened it around her neck.

"Where did you get that? What are you doing?" Brad asked, backing away.

"I know you have to obey any command given to you by the one who wears the wolf's tooth. The Lone Wolf will doggedly pursue his commanded goal without transforming into human form until the task is completed. He will think of nothing else. He will not rest, and he cannot resist."

It was true. This dangerous talisman was created by another villainess, a witch, who'd captured him briefly a year ago. He'd gotten lucky that the necklace slipped from her grasp after he'd completed the only mission she'd commanded him to perform. It hadn't been seen since. Not until now. He had no idea where Rocketgirl had found it.

"Brad, I command you."

"Please don't."

"You will transform into the Lone Wolf. You will escape from Ms Kyoto and find Rocketgirl. You will take her back to Ms Kyoto's lair."

She stopped speaking. "Wait," he said. "You didn't command me to help you take down M2. And why are you talking about yourself in the third...pers...pers..." He trailed off as the commanding spell took hold of him.

His body transformed into the huge werewolf Lone Wolf. "Aaaaaaooooooo!" he cried as his muscular werewolf frame burst through the VR suit, tearing it to shreds.

Had Brad been conscious, he would have recognized that he'd been duped by a VR simulation. But Brad wasn't home now. Lone Wolf was in control, himself controlled by a spell cast by a VR replica of the wolf's tooth necklace.

Smiling from behind her console, Ms Kyoto depowered the anti-gravity chamber, allowing Lone Wolf to fall to the floor. Without so much as glancing her direction, he tore through the walls of the chamber and ran away.

"Off you go, young stud. Off to betray your beloved and bring her back to my clutches. Oh, what fun we three will have together." She chuckled sinisterly.
