"A child."

“I need...a child.”

Elyse's eyes shot wide open and she immediately catapulted out of her seat. “What..??”

“Please, let me explain everything to you. I know it's not something you've had need to entertain. But, look at me. I'm getting older for my age. I have no one. Time is running out for me.”

“I know...but...” Elyse was just speechless.

“Here's what I offer. You don't have to agree to any of it. I can give you four grand for just one time inside you. And that's it. Whatever happens happens. Now... I don't know if you are on the pill or anything. You don't have to tell me. You probably are. That's okay. I don't care. I just want to believe that there is a chance with a girl as striking as you. Now, if you do have the child, I will cover all fees, and you don't have to take any part in raising it. While you're pregnant, I'll take good care of you. I'll pay for everything you need. But, chances are, nothing will happen at all, right?”

This was all too weird. Four grand would really clear her out of a jam, but the thought of being pregnant was just a little bit too much. But, just one time? What are her chances? How can anything be so tempting and yet so repulsive. “I don't know what to say to this, Mr. Brady. I'm so sorry. You understand why I can't answer.”

“I do. And it's okay, Elyse. The beauty is that I'll give you all the time you need to decide.” He took her hand as he sat there looking up to her. “You are a remarkable, dazzling, lovely girl. I know I ask too much of you, but here is my offer, and now I let you decide.”

“Thank you, Mr. Brady. You are a super kind man. I only wish I could give you an easier answer. I-I guess I should be going. I need to explore my options, right?”

“Yes. I insist that you do,” he said, rising from the couch and guiding Elyse to the door.

But, just before he opened the door, she abruptly stopped his arm.

“Wait!”

“What is it, dear?”
