Teresa Mendoza (Queen of the South)

Queen of the South is a USA Network show that tells the tale of Teresa Mendoza, played by Alice Braga. Teresa started off poor in Mexico as a money changer. Her fortunes changed when she met Guero Davilla, a runner for the Vargas cartel. However it was not to be a storybook ending for the happy couple. Gruero was assassinated for skimming money. Teresa escaped the assassins, along with a very important book that details everything about the Vargas cartel. Teresa eventually ends up in America, in Dallas Texas, to work for, of all people, Camila Vargas, the wife of Epifania Vargas, the powerful head of the Vargas cartel in Mexico.

Epiphania wants Teresa badly for the tell all book she has in her possession. Camilla knows Teresa is hiding something, and decides she is way too valuable an asset to hand over to Epifania. And so begin's Teresa's journey toward becoming the head of her own cartel in Arizona.
