Shannon was on this space flight to track down a fugitive who'd retreated to a planet in the outer reaches. These kind of cases were always tricky. You had to respect the planet's individual laws and customs, but make them obey interplanetary law as well. She'd had some tricky times before, when the two laws clashed.

Also, sometimes Cultural differences planet to planet had to be respected. She'd spent a week wearing a Burka in a planet that kept some ancient religious traditions alive. She'd been to take part in a few strange holidays that required participation. It came with the job.

She hadn't read the dossier for this planet yet. She'd hoped to catch up on her reading on the trip but had fallen asleep for most of it. So, she'd be going in under-prepared. Well, at least she knew the fugitive from past encounters...
