Patient Zero

The missing vial of Contagion 63X disappeared without a trace. Where it would turn up again was anyone's guess. The scientists at the research facility worked ceaselessly to try to predict possible locations that it might appear, knowing that if it wasn't contained immediately, it posed a significant threat to the population of the state, country, continent, and world.

In the end though, they were unsuccessful. Too many variables were at play. They didn't even know how the vial had been stolen or when, since the security on the vault was supposed to be second to none and monitored around the clock. Eventually, they gave up on trying to predict possible locations and simply waited on standby, knowing the virus would appear eventually.

And then it did.
