Aurthur Wolfe, a White 21-year-old English and Literature Teacher

Friday before the first day of school:

Aurthur was at the high school late getting his classroom ready for the first day of school next week. He was taking his time as he was meeting with parents and students about class schedules and any special needs his students may have while waiting the school's librarian to come and see him. Aryca Chase was 22 years old and had graduated with Aurthur as he worked hard to graduate early. Aurthur and Aryca had both grown up in the same city but didn't meet until they were at college. As the old saying goes there is nothing like a hometown girl, they hit it off and have been attached at the hip ever since. Being back in the school and meeting with the families of freshman from his last year in the school who were now going to be seniors in his class was somewhat surreal. Most of the possible pitfalls were avoided as while he had played on some of the varsity teams he wasn't truly a jock and was more often the voice of reason trying to curb some of the bullies and bad attitudes in his year. This left him popular with most of the class but not in the Popular Cliques.

After meeting with the conners family about all three of their children who would be in various of his classes this year he put away the last of the supplies he brought with him and started to get ready to leave for the night. Just as he finished getting ready to go Aryca arrived in his classroom to meet him. They were both excited about the coming school year and finally starting the careers that they worked so hard for over the last couple years.

Monday, Memorial Day, last day before school starts:

Aurthur was pacing back and forth most of the day, his hand kept staying towards the inside jacket pocket of his coat. His eyes kept flashing to his watch, phone or the clock on the wall, his pacing and fidgeting getting worse as the hours dragged by. He was waiting to leave the house for a date with Aryca, though there had been many dates over the last few years tonight made him nervous. He'd been looking for the right time for this all summer but hadn't been able to work up the courage. Authur was taking Aryca to this fine little eight table restaurant his parents had told him about hidden away near the waterfront. Arriving at 6:45 to pick he up for their reservations Arthur heart skipped a beat when Aryca answered the door. She was dressed in a black skirt and stockings with a pale blue sweater and couldn't have looked any more like an angel is his eyes.

The evening went great with a nice romantic dinner followed in one of the nearby parks where the city was celebrating Memorial Day. Thay stayed out to watch the fireworks show. While Aryca was distracted by the finally of the show Aurthur lowered himself to one knee and fished out the box containing his great-grandmother's engagement ring. As the finale` ended Aryca turned to see Aurthur kneeling with the ring box. "Aryca, when we met three years ago I knew you were the only woman I would want for the rest of my life. Since then we have been through a global pandemic, worked hard together to complete our education and while it wasn't all smooth sailing as we've had our disagreements and fights we came out the other side of them stronger as a couple. What I knew then at first sight as only been confirmed over time, you are the only woman for me. Will you do me the honor of marrying me?" Aurthur's heart was pounding out of his chest as he knelt waiting for her response.

With tears of joy welling in her eyes, Aryca took a couple of second to respond, "Yes, of course it's yes," She replied as the tears started to flow freely from her sapphire blue eyes. They headed back to Aurthur's car to leave the park. They pull out into the busy traffic and head away from the park and are blindsided in a massive accident involving dozens of cars and pedestrians.
